Labor Story

So once they determined I was truly in labor they got the process rolling. They hooked me up to an I.V. and shortly after got me on an epidural. Thank heavens for the epidural!! The doc came in to check me out a few hours later and broke my water. I was really surprised at how fast it all started. When they broke my water they noticed that there were problems right off. The baby was dealing with some stressed and cause him to have a bowel movement before he was born. So the doc decided to give me some pitocen to try to speed up the process. But unfortunately it was causing a lot of stress on the baby and causing his heart rate to drop so they immediately took me off that. The baby's heart rate continued to fluctuate while we waited for my cervix to dilate. The doc tried to hold out as long as he felt safe to see if I could dilate on my own and be able to have this baby vaginally, but by the time I was finally dilated to a 7 his heart rate had dropped 5 times in one hour. So they decided to do a c-section. This was a very scary moment for me. I was not prepared. But they drugged me up real good and took me back. Jedd got to watch and was totally thrilled. And I'm alive to tell the story so I guess everything turned out okay. After 16 long hours of labor and a c-section, Jaxton was born at 6:03 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2009. He weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces. He measured 20 inches long. He has short dark brown hair and is the sweetest baby ever! Unfortunately due to all the problems during labor, he had to start his life in the NICU. It was really hard for me because I hardly got to see him till the next morning and didn't get to hold him till that afternoon. They let me feed him Friday and since then he has done very well. Today, at about 4:00 PM he was finally moved to the nursery. As for me....I'm still sore and a little stiff but just sooooo happy to not be pregnant and to have my son here!

Lucky Day....

So I had my membranes stripped Wednesday morning and thought for sure I'd be pregnant for another week. Well I guess I got lucky cause that night I jumped right in to full labor contractions. By 2:00 AM my contractions were five minutes or less apart from each other. And yes, they did hurt! Jedd talked me into holding out there at the house as long as I could. So I took a shower, did my hair and make-up, and checked over my list one final time before leaving for the hospital at about 5:30 AM. We were pretty nervous. I was afraid they would make me wait longer or even possibly send me home. But thank heavens they didn't. I was truly in labor and in for a long ride.

Final Doc Appointment

Today I went to the doctor. I'm still only dilated to a one! So he stripped my membranes to get the process rolling but I'm afraid it won't do anything. So we scheduled my induction for Tuesday September 29th. Finally... there seems to be an end. Unfortunately it is so far away!!! I'm ready for this little guy to come now.
